Club de Roma - Red Latinoamérica

El objetivo del encuentro es impulsar en América Latina y el Caribe una plataforma de diálogo, investigación y acción que promueva transiciones socioecológicas justas, basadas en los límites planetarios, la regeneración y la construcción de un Nuevo Humanismo.

El encuentro reflejará la identidad y tradición intelectual del Club de Roma, apoyada en tres pilares:

  • La crisis sistémica requiere respuestas sistémicas.
  • América Latina es una región estratégica para la transición global.
  • Un marco articulado en tres ejes: límites planetarios (ciencia), regeneración (acción) y un nuevo humanismo (pensamiento).


El encuentro será el punto de partida para la construcción de la Red Latinoamericana del Club de Roma, articulando pensamiento, práctica y cooperación regional.

Contexto latinoamericano

América Latina y el Caribe atraviesa una coyuntura marcada por múltiples crisis interconectadas - ambientales, económicas, sociales, culturales y políticas- que desafían la estabilidad democrática, la cohesión social y la sostenibilidad ambiental.


Sin embargo, la región también posee una potencia extraordinaria: es uno de los territorios con mayor biodiversidad del planeta, heredera de culturas ancestrales y saberes comunitarios profundos, y reservas estratégicas para la transición global.

Mamphela Ramphele

Honorary President, The Club of Rome

Dr. Mamphela Ramphele has had a celebrated career as an activist, medical doctor, academic, businesswoman and thought leader. 


Dr Ramphele was co-founder of The Black Consciousness Movement with Steve Biko that reignited the struggle for freedom in South Africa. She is co-founder of ReimagineSA , honorary president of The Club of Rome , Chair at the Desmond Tutu IP Trust Commissioner The Global Commission of the Economics of Water and a member of the Planetary Guardians


She has received numerous national and international awards acknowledging her scholarship and leading role in promoting the empowerment of women, youth and other oppressed people in South Africa and globally.


She is the author of several books and publications on socio-economic issues in South Africa.

Carlos Alvarez Pereira

Secretary General, The Club of Rome

Carlos Alvarez Pereira is a senior professional combining more than 30 years of experience in research and innovation, entrepreneurship, and business management, with a passion for complexity thinking and transdisciplinarity. He is keen on exploring the cultural transformation required to cross the threshold towards equitable human wellbeing within a healthy biosphere. Carlos is the Secretary General at the Club of Rome International.


He is member of the Advisory Board of the International Bateson Institute (IBI), fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS), and member of the Spanish Fulbright Alumni Association, of which he has been Vice-President during eight years. With an MSc in Aerospace Engineering, he has been a lecturer and researcher in Applied Mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He founded and chaired the Innaxis Foundation & Research Institute for 14 years, specialised in the modelling of complex systems and big data applications. He has been the founder and top-level executive during more than 25 years of several consulting companies in Spain, Switzerland, France and Germany in the domains of digital technologies, systems integration and strategic advice.

Silvia Zimmermann del Castillo

Co President, The Club of Rome

Silvia Zimmermann del Castillo is an Argentinean writer, philosopher and international lecturer. She was a disciple and collaborator of the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges with whom she studied ancient Anglo-Saxon and Icelandic literatures. She studied Social and Cultural Anthropology at the École Pratiques des Hautes Études, La Sorbonne, Paris and Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires.

Currently, she is a columnist for the newspaper La Nación, writing for the Opinion and Cultural Supplementsections. She co-directed the Watershed Conference on Water at the Vatican in 2017. She coordinates “Dialogues in Paradise“ at the Mokichi Okada Art Museum, Japan: face-to-face meetings between personalities of culture, art and science from various countries of the East and West to discuss art issues, culture and society.She is the International Director of the Mokichi Okada Chair on Beauty at the University of Bologna, Italy, andthe founder and current President of the Argentinean Chapter of the Club of Rome.

In 1983, she was selected as an outstanding woman of the national history by the Dictionary of Argentinean Women. She has been distinguished as Ambassador of Peace, by the International Foundation Thousand Millennia of Peace.

She was a disciple and collaborator of the Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges with whom she studied ancient Anglo-Saxon and Icelandic literatures. Buenos Aires cuenta principalmente con dos aeropuertos internacionales: el Aeropuerto Internacional Ministro Pistarini (EZE) (Ezeiza) para vuelos internacionales de larga distancia, situado a unos 32 km de la ciudad, y el Aeropuerto Jorge Newbery (AEP) (Aeroparque), situado en el centro de Palermo, que opera vuelos nacionales y regionales. Una tercera opción, más pequeña, es el Aeropuerto El Palomar (EPA), que opera un número limitado de vuelos. 

El principal complejo ferroviario central de Buenos Aires es la estación Retiro, situada en el barrio del mismo nombre. Es el principal centro de operaciones de los trenes de larga distancia (a Córdoba, Rosario, Tucumán) y de las tres principales líneas de cercanías (Mitre, San Martín, Belgrano). Es muy fácil llegar a ella desde la estación de metro Retiro y las terminales de autobuses cercanas. 


Otras estaciones importantes de Buenos Aires:


Estación Constitución (Estación Plaza Constitución): la estación más grande de Argentina en cuanto a tráfico, gestiona la concurrida línea Roca hacia los suburbios del sur y los trenes de larga distancia hacia Mar del Plata.

Estación Once (Estación Once de Septiembre): da servicio a la línea Sarmiento, que ofrece servicio de cercanías a la parte occidental del Gran Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires utiliza un voltaje de 220 V, una frecuencia de 50 Hz y, principalmente, enchufes de tipo I (tres clavijas planas en forma de V), aunque también existen algunos de tipo C (dos clavijas redondas). Para la mayoría de los dispositivos extranjeros es imprescindible un adaptador de tipo I. Los dispositivos de 110-120 V (como los de EE. UU.) necesitan convertidores de voltaje.

Cuando se viaja, es necesario estar conectado. Las tarifas de roaming pueden ser caras, y una tarjeta SIM local puede suponer un ahorro. Las tarjetas eSIM deben cargarse antes de salir del país para activarlas a la llegada. Si prefiere un wifi de bolsillo o una tarjeta SIM, le recomendamos que lo alquile o lo compre en una tienda de telefonía celular del aeropuerto a su llegada. La mayoría lo entregará en su hotel si lo solicita con antelación.
